Help Keep Police Station Numbers Accurate — Earn 3 Months of Free Featured Advertising

Help fellow police station representatives by supplying accurate, up-to-date police station contact numbers. Submit three independently verified and approved contributions and receive 90 days of complimentary featured advertising for your representative listing. Only genuinely new or corrected information qualifies. Numbers copied from other commercial directories will not be accepted.

Who can take part

The scheme is for registered, verified representatives on PoliceStationRepUK. That means an accredited PSRAS police station representative, a duty solicitor, or a solicitor, with a listing that is verified and shown in the directory.

Probationary, trainee and unaccredited profiles cannot take part, and firms cannot send numbers in the firm’s name.

New here? Join the directory (it is free), then complete verification. Already registered? Sign in to your account. A submission is only accepted once your listing is verified and public.

What counts

A contribution is a missing number, a wrong number, or a number that has changed. It can be a custody desk, a general station number, or a front counter. The form also has Other, for a number that does not fit those three. A credit still depends on review.

What counts and what does not count
CountsDoesn’t count
A missing numberThe number is already correct on our site
A wrong numberIt was copied from another directory
A number that has changedIt is an internal or confidential line
Custody desk, general station, or front counterIt is a repeat of something already sent

Use a normal UK telephone number. Emergency short codes and premium-rate numbers are not accepted. If we already publish that number for the station, it does not earn a credit.

How to do it

  1. Sign in with the email on your rep account.
  2. Open the submit form, or use Report an incorrect number on any station page. If your listing is verified, that station-page link opens this form with the station filled in.
  3. Pick the station from the directory list. Start typing its name and choose the match.
  4. Enter the telephone number and its type: custody desk, general station number, front counter, or other.
  5. Say whether it is missing, wrong, or changed.
  6. Give the date you last used or verified it. The date cannot be in the future. A recent date is best.
  7. Choose the source. If you used it yourself at work, pick “Personally used in legitimate professional work”. If you got it from an official police source, pick “Obtained directly from an official police source”. The form does not take evidence links. Put the official page’s address in the notes box. If you choose Other, the explanation box appears — put the page address there instead, and say where it came from.
  8. Tick the declaration. It says: “I confirm that the information supplied is accurate to the best of my knowledge, was obtained legitimately and independently, and has not been copied from another commercial directory. I confirm that I am not knowingly disclosing confidential or restricted contact information.”
  9. Submit. You can send up to 8 contributions in an hour. After that, wait and try again.

Do not include client, detainee, or custody-record information.

A good submission — example only

01632 960123 is an Ofcom drama number. It is not a real line, and Example Town Police Station is not a real station. Do not submit this example.

What happens next

We check every number independently. A ticked declaration is not approval. There is no set turnaround: some contributions are straightforward, and others wait while we look for a reliable source. Direct custody lines may be approved without being published.

  • Pending. On your progress page this says Pending review. We have it, and we have not finished checking it. You get an email: “We received your station number contribution”.
  • More information needed. On your progress page this says Further information required. We cannot decide yet. The email asks you for the source, without client or custody-record details.
  • Approved. On your progress page this says Verified and approved for publication. It has been checked. If it qualifies, it is one credit, and the number may be published. The approval email does not include the number.
  • Approved but not published. On your progress page this says Verified but not approved for public publication. We accept it, and it can still count as a credit, but the number stays off the public page. This is how many direct custody lines are handled.
  • Rejected. It does not count. The email says why, without the telephone number.

If you send a new contribution for a station while an earlier one is still pending, the earlier one is marked Superseded and we review the new one instead.

Tracking your progress

Your contributor dashboard lists each contribution and its status. Credits are shown out of 3. When you reach 3, it says an administrator can activate 90 days of featured advertising.

Your reward

3 approved credits make you eligible. An administrator then activates the listing. It lasts 90 days from activation. There is no charge, no subscription and no auto-renewal. It simply ends. You can receive this reward once.

Your account must be at least 14 days old when the reward is activated. We count that from the date your listing was last verified.

If you already pay for featured advertising, we will not shorten it. An administrator will sort it out. The free period is not switched on over the top of a paid listing.

Promotional placement only. A featured listing awarded under this scheme is an advertisement. It is not an endorsement by PoliceStationRepUK and it is not approval by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Tips for approval

  • Say where you got the number, in the notes box or the explanation box.
  • Give a recent date, the day you last used or checked it.
  • Send one station per submission.
  • Do not send a number that is already correct on our site. It will not earn a credit.

FAQ

Can I send more than three?

Yes. 3 approved credits are enough for the reward, and you can receive it only once. You may send more than that. Extra approved numbers still help other representatives, but they do not start a second free period.

What if my contribution is rejected?

It does not count as a credit. You will get an email that says why, and that email will not include the telephone number. You can send a different correction.

Can a firm take part?

No. The scheme is for individual registered representatives with a verified listing: accredited PSRAS representatives, duty solicitors and solicitors. A firm cannot send numbers in its own name.

Do I have to ring the custody suite?

No. Never ring a custody desk, and do not ask anyone else to, just to collect a number for this scheme.

Is my information shared?

No. We use your contribution to check the number and to run your reward. We do not put your name beside the number on the public station page, and we do not share the contribution with other representatives. Emails about it do not include the telephone number. Notes are removed after 2 years. The privacy notice explains how we handle personal information.

What if two representatives send the same number?

The first contribution we approve gets the credit. A later one can still be accepted for the record, but it does not add another credit for the same correction.

What if I already pay for featured advertising?

We will not shorten the listing you already pay for. An administrator will sort it out. The free period is not switched on over the top of a paid listing.

How long does a review take?

There is no set turnaround. We check every number ourselves before it can count. A direct custody line may be approved without being published. The reward, once an administrator activates it, lasts 90 days.
